Just two
decades ago, you would have been hard pressed to find a hotel
in China that even comes close to meeting Western standards.
However, all that has changed with the tremendous growth in
the tourism industry in China over the last 20 years. As an
example, there were no star-rated hotels in Beijing back in
the 70's. Today, the city has 21 five-star hotels, 34 four-star
hotels and 338 other hotels with lower ratings.
