Chinese carmakers see bright future in small-displacement car market

In order to stimulate the weakening auto industry, China's Premier Wen Jiabao last month chaired a State Council regular meeting and approved in principle the auto industry revitalization plan and detailed supportive measures. Under this plan, the purchase tax on passenger vehicle with engine of 1.6 liters or below is cut to 5% from 10%, effective from January 20 to December 31.

WTO ruling may impact China auto parts industry

The World Trade Organization Appellate Body in mid-December rejected an appeal by China against a ruling that favored the United States in a dispute over car parts, the European Union and Canada. According to some industry insiders, this WTO ruling will have impact on the current China's auto parts industry and they believe that imported auto parts and components will possibly seize the market again.
