EVN Telecom Launches Trans-Asia Marine Cable System with Initial Investment of USD 200 Million
The Vietnam Electricity Telecom Company (EVN Telecom) on Nov. 6 launched the trans-Asia submarine cable system (IACS),making it the country' s second telecom company after VNPT to operate a modern this type of optical cable network.
The IACS has an initial investment capital of 200 million USD, to which EVN Telecom is contributing 30 million USD and the remainder comes from Indian state Communication.

VNPT to increase broadband capacity
Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has said it will increase broadband capacity to over 100Gpbs by the end of 2010 to consolidate its position as the leading Internet service provider in Vietnam. VDC' s network currently has a capacity of 45Gpbs, which accounts for over 70 percent of the country's total.

US$554 million Investment in Vietnam's cable network direct to US
The International (VTI) company, a member of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group(VNPT), on November 27 inaugurated Vietnam' s link with a 20,000 kilometer submerged optical cable network that will connect Vietnam (and seven others in the Asia Pacific region)with the US.
The project has a total investment capital of nearly US$554 million, to which the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT) contributes US$40 million.
VNPT Invests in International Optical Cable System
Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) was permitted to invest in the APG international sea cable network. The Asia-Pacific Gateway network (AGP) will connect China, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, with a total length of 8000km
VNPT plans to get $300 million overseas loan to expand Telecom Network
Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group(VNPT) plan to borrow USD300 million from foreign banks. The scheduled $300 million loan is to expand VNPT_ s telecom network, according to Bloomberg.

VinaPhone partners on new mobile 3G service
Mobile service provider VinaPhone has partnered Viet Nam HP Co and Cable and Network Materials Joint Stock Co to launch a new mobile 3G service - 3G integrated into HP notebook computers. HP integrated notebooks were introduced into the Vietnamese market from the beginning of November can access the internet or send e-mail wherever 3G coverage is available.
Vinaphone to expand GSM network
Vinaphone, a subsidiary of the Viet Nam Posts and Tele-communications (VNPT) Group has signed contracts with Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business to expand its GSM network. The new deployment of more than 3,000 sites will, over the next two years, extend Vinaphone's 2G network coverage and capacity in the southern and northern provinces, including the densely populated cities of Hanoi and HCM City.

Vinaphone provides 3G to 5M Vietnam users
Vietnam mobile phone service provider Vinaphone is undertaking a capacity expansion for its core network. It has appointed Nokia Siemens Networks as its partner for the expansion that will allow the Vietnam telco to provide 3G-enabled mobile broadband services to more than five million subscribers.

VMS MobiFone brings 3G to Vietnam

Vinaphone Launches Viet Nam's First 3G Service
Vinaphone, a subsidiary of Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) Group, has launched the first commercial 3G service in Oct with network infrastructure from Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business. The network was upgraded in record time, just two months after the contract was awarded in August, demonstrating Motorola's leadership in technology and services and reinforcing Vinaphone's position as a leading operator in the country.

Viettel launch 3G services by June 2010
According to its 3G contract, Viettel had promised to launch 3G services by June 2010. The company will invest up to 12.8 trillion dong (over $711 million) in the 3G network within three years. Upon its launch, Viettel's 3G service will cover 100 percent of the population, with 15,000 BTS.

NEC helps Vietnam mobile expansion
Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Co. (VMS) has deployed a mobile backhaul solution based on NEC Corp.'s Pasolink ultracompact microwave communications system. VMS had more than 2.9 million subscribers as of the end of 2008 and is set to kick off its 3G mobile services later this year. Pasolink will be introduced throughout the country in support of VMS's network.
