At the end of the 3-day exhibition, EP China / Electrical China 2008 attracted about 26,900 visitors come from 48 countries / regions to meet with 400 exhibitors with successful deals concluded. Organized by China Electricity Council and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, The 12th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology and The 5th International Exhibition on Electrical Engineering, Electrical Equipment and Contractors' Supplies (namely as EP China / Electrical China 2008) again provided a one-stop business and information exchange platform for the electric power industry that bridging China and overseas.

Extensive support from industrial leaders

EP China / Electrical China 2008 were well attended by a number of key industrial players and governmental representatives. On the opening day, Xie Zhenhua, Executive Vice President of China Electricity Council gave the opening speech to address the opening. Other major guests on stage included Wang Yumin, Vice President of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Zhang Yihao of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Shi Dazhen, former Minister of Ministry of Electric Power, Xiao Peng, Vice President of China Southern Power Gird Co., Ltd., Ju Zhanghua, Vice President of China Huaneng Group, Wang Lin, Vice President of China Datang Corporation and Li Yongan, President of China Three Gorges Project Corporation. Moreover, counselors from embassies of France, Denmark, Spain and Russia in China, and major power group and power grid corporations of China showed their support by visiting the fair.

At the same time, it has been 30 years since the China Reform & Open-door Policy of the power industry. The organizer organized the concurrent event "China Power Industry Achievements Exhibition - 30 years of Reform & Opening up" at the fairground. It grabbed wide attention from the industry that Wang Xudong, President of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission and leaders of major corporations made a visit to the fair. In the expo, 16 major power group corporations and power grid corporations in China, including State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, Datang, Huaneng, Huadian, Guodian, China Power Investment, Shen Hua, Three Gorges Project, Guangdong Nuclear, Guangdong Yudean, Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group and State Nuclear displayed their gorgeous accomplishment of the past 30th years, while local and overseas industrial professionals gathered to review and set off insights for future planning.

The largest scale of EP China

Remarked by the organizer, EP China / Electrical China achieved its record-breaking scale this year. It was participated by 400 leading global suppliers from 20 countries/regions. Amongst are 3M, ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Chint, Areva, GE Energy, Hyosung, Eaton, Toshiba, Hitachi, Japan AE Power, EDF, Mennekes, Rochling, Tamco, Woehner, Du Pont, Dow Corning, Yinhe Hitech, Exide, Rittal, NRG, Hyundai Heavy Industry, Formosa and Wartsila, etc. Moreover, international pavilions from Germany, UK (BEAMA), Korea (Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association), US (US Embassy - Commercial Service) and Spain (AFME), etc. brought their state of the art products and technology to the fairground.

In overall, EP China exhibitors claimed the fair a success and showed satisfaction with the result. Mr. Fred Zheng of Schneider Electric remarked the good result they achieved at the fair. In this largest electric power event of China, their booth showcased a comprehensive list of products to meet with buyers come from different regions. Mr. Kekane of MINILEC - SHALAKA ELECTRONICS found a number of serious visitors there, that some of them were come from Europe, United States, Latin America and India, proving the effective pre-show promotions carried by the organizer. According to the on-site exhibitors' survey, 65% and 85% of exhibitors rated the visitor quality and quantity good respectively. 83% of them found the expo helped to promote their brands while 30% achieved increase of their sales amount through the expo. 92% of exhibitors would consider to exhibit or even make booth reservation for the next edition.

Visitor sentiments towards the expo are encouraging from their compliments either. For instance, Mr. Manish Jhunjhunwala of Rashtraudhyog Ltd. expressed the quality of the exhibits was high and they successfully found conductor suppliers and new types of insulators there. Shangxi Datong Electric Power Association praised the success of the expo which helped to facilitate the cooperation and development of the industry.

EP China / Electrical China attracted 26,900 visitors to the fairground, including visit delegations from electric power associations from all over China, such as Beijing, Shanxi Datong, Jiangsu Nantong, Wuxi, Nanjing, Zhejiang Huzhou, Henan Zhengzhou, Hebei Zhangjiakou and Guangdong Foshan, as well as Henan Luoyang Power Supply Company, Suzhou Electrical Engineering Association and Neimenggu Dianli Jituan.

The fair also attained its international status. Overseas visitors were come from 48 countries/regions. They include large corporations in electric power industry such as MaeMoh Thermo Power Plant and Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand, Elektromontaz - the leading provider of electrical engineering services in Poland, Energy & Telecom Engineers from India, Power Group from Russia, Edward Marcs Philippines Inc. which pursues power grid construction and Saudi Electricity Company, etc. Also there were visit groups led by The Kerala Electricity Traders Association of India, The Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as delegations from Indonesia and India, seeking for business opportunities and information exchange at the fairground.

Concurrent trade activities bring insights to the future development

Symposia on Power Transmission & Distribution and Environmental Protection Technology are staged alongside the expo. Areva T&D China, GE Energy, Siemens Ltd. China, Schneider Electric, Formosa, Albemarle Sorbent, Argillon, Rongxin and Nexans gave hot topics on energy conversation and emission deduction, as well as power T&D technology. They were well attended by trade professionals from China Southern Power Grid, State Grid, China Huadian Corporation and engineers from China Society of Electrical Engineering, power group corporations, electric power designing institutes and power generation corporations, etc.

Moreover, organized by China Electricity Council and CCPIT, the concurrent event - 2008 China Power Business Convention became another highlight and was well attended by major industrial players. The Convention comprised CDM project trading, under-planning project briefing, equipment purchasing discussion, sales agent / partnership business matching, marketing and technology information sharing, etc., creating unlimited business potentials for power project owners and global suppliers.

Get ready in next edition - EP Shanghai 2009

Perpetuating the success of EP China 2008, the next edition - EP Shanghai / Electrical Shanghai is scheduled to be held from July 8 - 10, 2009 at Shanghai International Exhibition Center (Level 1 & 2), PR China. Past exhibitors such as ABB, Siemens, Hyosung, Eaton, 3M, Toshiba, Japan AE, Daihen, Schniewindt and MR CHINA have already reserved their booths, while Areva, Hyundai and Rittal even plan to expand their exhibiting area, showing their high expectations towards the EP show.

EP China, founded in 1986, is organized by China Electricity Council and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., held rotationally in Beijing and Shanghai in alternate years. It is the only power exhibition endorsed by UFI Approved Event in China, gaining full support from the major power group corporations and power grid corporations in China.
