Held from September 26 - 28, 2007 at Shanghai International Exhibition Center (INTEX), Auto Parts Shanghai / Auto Manufacturing Shanghai 2007 remarkably attracted over 16,200 local and overseas trader buyers, precipitating the advancement of development and technological exchange in auto industry between China and the globe.
The twin expo were exhibited by 200 renowned corporations from 15 countries and regions including Austria, Canada, France, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, PR China, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden & United States. An array of new and quality products were on display, featuring auto parts, components and accessories, chemicals and raw materials, auto and parts manufacturing, tyre and wheel, electronic system, mould and die, welding and cutting equipment, etc.

Visitors were kept abreast of the latest technology and business know-how. International pavilions from Korea led by Korea Industry & Trade Association, Singapore by Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA), and Hong Kong presented their innovative products at the fairground, as well as the presence of renowned brands, namely ExxonMobil, Bayer, 3M, Dayco, Philips Lighting, Atotech, Dow Corning, Fleetguard, Gentex, Philips Lighting, Invista, Wai Transpo, Han's Laser, Dieffenbacher, Kunststoff-Froehlich GmbH, Vi-chem, Shinco, Wacker and Momentive, etc.
Ms. Christine Quek of SIAA remarked that exhibitors from Singapore pavilion were targeting to meet car makers and auto parts manufacturers in China. They found the fairs fruitful in building their brands and exploring the local market, and absolutely facilitating more trade opportunities abroad.
Another attention-grabbing spot of the fair was environmental protection in auto industry. Visitors were impressed by the first Hong Kong made electric car - MyCar, with its first preview at the fairground. It is invented by EuAuto Technology which specializes in developing environmental-friendly vehicles. MyCar-EV is a fully electric-driven vehicle with zero emission and its electric-driving system is co-developed by Hong Kong Polytechnic University. EuAuto also took that opportunity to make volume sourcing for auto parts.

On the opening day, Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd expressed that auto industry in China has undergoing rapid development. In year 2006, China produced 7.28 million units of vehicles and sold 7.22 million units of vehicles, representing a growth of 27.32% and 25.13% respectively, and has reached 4.3 millions in the first half year of 2007. The country has become the third largest automobile producers in the world, only after the United States and Japan. With no doubt, the market potential for auto parts and auto manufacturing equipment is still very tremendous. At the same time, many Chinese manufacturers have successfully established their export markets. Auto Parts Shanghai / Auto Manufacturing Shanghai 2007 were held in this golden period, with endured dedication to provide an integrated market for global trade among Chinese and worldwide buyers.
According to the organizer, there were 16,200 visitors attended the fair and concurrent activities whom came from 44 countries and regions, indicating the participation from the whole nation and worldwide. Overseas buyers came from Asia (51.2%), Europe (28.2), North America (8.5%), Pacific (6.2%), South America (4.4%) and Africa (1.5%) respectively. For Chinese buyers, 60% were come from Shanghai while others from different regions of China. Moreover, visitors were professionals in the industry that mainly pursued in auto parts manufacturing, engine and car manufacturing. Over 60% visitors were from the departments of production, purchasing, equipment and R&D.
Trade professionals from auto and auto parts associations played a significant role in the fairs too. Group delegations from Jiangsu Changzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi and Zhejiang Hanzhou and Cixi of China, Fukushima Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Japan and Japan Association for the Promotion of Creative Events visited and looked for trade opportunities in the expo.

According to an onsite visitor survey, 36.4 % visitors stated they would purchase on-site products, 76.1% would compare different exhibits for further purchase, and 88.4% tended to look for overseas partners. Mr. Ma from BYD Company remarked that he discovered market trends on environmental and quality control there. Another Mr. Ma from Top World felt satisfactory with the exhibits and tended to look for vehicle filters, air-conditioning and connector manufacturers.
In the meantime, the concurrent technical seminars and conference were well-attended by automotive specialists. In "The 4th International Conference on Auto Manufacturing - Non-Metal Technology", market forecast on plastics application and the latest technology in auto manufacturing was featured. Topics included "Latest Plastic Applications and Trends in Automobile Industry" by China FAW Group, "Materials and Coloring Development of Automotive Exterior and Interior Parts" by SAIC and "Plastic Applications on Eco-friendly Automotive" by Zhejiang Geely, etc.
