Experienced the Trade Auto Parts / Manufacturing Expo in Shanghai

The Shanghai International Exhibition for Auto Parts & Accessories 2005 and Shanghai International Exhibition for Auto Manufacturing (Auto Parts Shanghai / Auto Manufacturing Shanghai 2005) brought to a fruitful ending with a record of 22,330 trade visitors and 60 media to the 4-day expo.

Auto Parts Shanghai / Auto Manufacturing Shanghai is organized by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd and SAE China (Society of Automotive Engineers of China), with 220 exhibitors' participation from 14 countries/regions, and 4 international pavilions from China Hong Kong SAR, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan Province. The expo featured a spanning of advanced auto systems, automobile parts, automobile accessories, vehicle service & care, diagnostic / measuring / testing & control device systems, chemical & raw materials, related manufacturing technology & machines for auto & auto parts.

As the first edition, the expo drew a high number of qualified buyers from local and overseas, of which 40% mainly came from East China regions, and others from South and North China, while 12% were recorded from 58 countries / regions, a considerable number from China Hong Kong SAR, United States, Taiwan Province, Japan and India. Moreover, there were keen participation from trade associations which brought a number of delegations from Ruian, Hangzhou, Changzhou, Changshu, Jintang, Nanjing, Cixi, Suzhou of PR China, and Thailand. This international trading platform has set the unprecedented record of overseas participation in auto parts expo of its kind in China.

Auto Parts Shanghai / Auto Manufacturing Shanghai 2005 performed well to prompt the exchange of technology and trading opportunities. From on-site visitor survey, more than a half of visitors felt satisfactory with the exhibits quality; their most interested exhibits were auto engine, chassis, body works & accessories; 84% visitors aimed to know the latest technology and market information, 78% to compare products for sourcing, 74% to meet with exhibitors, 64% came for sourcing; 57% visitors achieved a preliminary trade cooperation at the expo. The show definitely performed as the linkage to the international automobile trading market, setting as one of the most important auto parts / manufacturing fair in the industry.

Besides, over 80% of exhibitors showed their satisfaction towards the expo. Nearly 60% exhibitors tended to join the next edition and over 30% would consider so. Mr. Liu from Jacobs remarked, "The trade visitors are more than we expect. Though the expo scale is not very large, its effectiveness is far better than many other auto shows in the past." The international exhibiting groups also found the show to be successful in exploring the mainland market, looking for local partners and meeting with potential buyers. Ms. Yue of the Singapore Industrial Automation Association claimed that it helped exhibitors to approach those big auto manufacturers and parts buyers in China. As the first attempt to join exhibition in China, the Hong Kong exhibitor, Mr. Li, trusted its effectiveness to meet with auto parts OEM clients. The Korea International Trade Association already made its attempt to organize another bigger Korean Pavilion next time.

"The SAE China 2005 Congress & International Conference on the Development of China Auto Parts Industry" was held concurrently with the expo. Several hundreds of high-ranking representatives from major auto/parts manufacturers and research institutions gathered under the same roof for the latest information exchange and business know-how. Guest speakers from Bosch, Dalian Goodyear Tire, Taiwan Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers' Association, took this precious opportunity to introduce advanced techniques on auto manufacturing.

On-site technical seminars were well attended by professionals and industrial players. Major auto manufacturers, Yuejin Motor Group, Shanghai Volkswagen, ChangAn Auto Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Motor Corp, China FAW Group Corp, and the scholars from the Jilin University and Tsinghua University, gave talks on the auto groups business development and technical advance in the industry.
